‘If I was only allowed to have one beauty book, this is the one I’d choose’. Huge statement… I know! But this is the most all-encompassing book on the subject of all-natural beauty care I’ve ever seen. When Jeanne Rose set out to make this book, it’s obvious that she had high expectations and planned on delivering a wealth of information. She accomplished that goal.
‘Herbal Body Book’ sits proudly on my shelf, and always within easy access. There’s a reason for that, I trust what it has to say and it fits my many needs when using and making natural beauty products. It contains a detailed index of almost every item you would ever need or want to learn about from Acacia Gum to Zinnia. I’ve already read the book cover to cover and have used it as a resource countless times. So my plan was to take a quick look through the book and relay my thoughts to you in this Spotlight. But when I got to this part of the book, I couldn’t keep from getting enthralled with every word, once again! It is so packed with information that even though you think you’ll remember it all, you simply can’t.
Besides the interesting herbs and ingredients that Ms. Rose comments on individually, she also shares other glossaries with us. These include ‘Useful Terms’ and even ‘Situations’ for using these herbs and herbal formulations. You’ll also find a wide variety of recipes and various ways of delivering them. I’ve never seen so many interesting methods of making completely natural cosmetics in one place! The book ends with a chapter on ‘Cosmetics Used in Magic’. This is a fun and interesting chapter about the historic and present uses of certain natural substances bringing certain powers to the user.
This book is what I call ‘getting bang for your buck’. It’s not only exceptionally interesting, it’s absolutely packed with herbal education. There are many books on herbs available, but very few are specifically geared towards beauty. If you love all-natural beauty care from it’s most basic principals you cannot afford to live without this book. If you are new to the concepts of all-natural beauty you must get ‘Herbal Beauty Book’ from Jeanne Rose.
