This mask is loaded with Vitamins C and A, excellent skin ‘food’. The Oats are very soothing and softening to the skin, while the Honey has humectant properties and add much-needed hydration. Mature skin will especially love the benefits of this all-natural mask!
Note:
The directions below are general instructions on how to make and use this mask. The 3 essential oils above can be irritating to sensitive skin so caution is advised. When they are used in the very small amounts advised here, they lend a gorgeous Pumpkin Pie scent that lingers on the skin after the mask is removed. Do not add a larger amount of these essential oils just because you enjoy the scent, stick to the amount advised. If you have very sensitive skin you may want to avoid their use completely. Organic ingredients are always optimal, but of course not mandatory.
Ingredients:
1/4 Cup Canned Organic Pumpkin
3/4 Cup Spring Water
1/2 Cup Rolled Oats
2 Tablespoons Honey
1/2 teaspoon Rose Hip Seed Oil
1 Drop Clove Bud Essential Oil
1 Drop Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
1 Drop Nutmeg Essential Oil
Instructions:
Step 1: Bring water to a boil in a small sauce pan.
2: Add the Oats and lower the flame to low/medium
3: Cook the Oats for about 10 minutes until soft. (Stir often)
4: Remove from the heat and add the Honey.
5: Pour the Oats & Honey mixture into a small bowl and refrigerate for just 5 minutes.
6: Add the Pumpkin and blend into the Oat mixture well.
7: Add the Rose Hip Seed Oil and stir into the mixture.
8: Add the essential oils one at a time, blend each one well into the mixture before adding the next.
To Use:
Take a large dollop and add it to the center of a 6 inch square of cheese cloth.
Wrap the cheese cloth around the Mask mixture and grasp it by the top clean area of the cheese cloth. By squeezing and gliding it around the skin it will release the liquid of the mixture onto the skin while trapping the messy Oat bits in the cloth. Continue to massage this around the skin until no more liquid comes out.
– Continue to gently massage the skin with your hand until the mask almost dries completely (about 5 minutes).
– Remove gently with a warm wash cloth. Finish with a spritz of hydrosol and your favorite all-natural moisturizer.
This facial mask is especially good for dry and mature skin types. Enjoy!
